Bangladesh Football Federation has yet to make any direct contact with national football coach Robert Rubcic but they are in touch with his agent, said a BFF official yesterday.
“We came to know through the agent who helped us rope in Rubcic that he is busy with his family, but we are hoping to make direct contact with him in a couple of days and then we can let you know about his return,” said BFF team management committee chairman Badal Roy.
Croat coach Rubcic left Bangladesh on June 2 without prior notice amid speculation that the move was because the 47-year old coach was not paid his wages for four months and was not happy to be sat idle.
And Roy reiterated that Rubcic told him about his possible leave before the BFF vice president left here for Zurich to attend the FIFA Congress.
Roy also informed that Rubcic had not agreed to accompany his charges in the away game against Pakistan (July 3) due to security concerns and had talked with the Pakistan Football Federation president and general secretary to play both matches in Bangladesh, but Pakistan had refused it during the FIFA Congress.
