File case against Rab in 24 hours

A Jhalakathi court yesterday afternoon ordered police to record within 24 hours the case Henoara Begum had filed with the court against Rab for maiming her son Limon.
Police also have to inform the court after carrying out the order, it said.
Nashimul Hassan, counsel of Henoara Begum, said he along with other lawyers yesterday submitted a petition before the Jhalakathi Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court.
In the petition, they said 31 days have already passed since the Rab fire maimed the HSC examinee and 14 days ago the same court ordered to record the case. But the officer-in-charge of Rajapur Police Station has not recorded the case yet.
The petitioners appealed for a directive with a specific deadline for registering the case.
Nusrat Jahan, magistrate of the court, after hearing the petition directed the Rajapur officer-in-charge to record the case within 24 hours of receiving the court order and immediately inform the court about compliance.
Md Nafiz, a court clerk, said Jhalakathi SP office informed that it received a copy of the court order at 4:30pm.
A messenger would carry the court order to the police station by yesterday night, said Nafiz.
Sub-Inspector Tipu of Rajapur Police Station said action would be taken as per the rules after they receive the court order.
Henoara on April 10 filed a case with the court of Jhalakathi Senior Judicial Magistrate Nusrat Jahan against six Rab personnel for the sensational shooting on March 23 that maimed her 16-year-old son.
The police, meanwhile, are investigating the two cases Rab lodged against Limon with the police station following the incident.
In the case statements, Rab said Limon was a terrorist and they found him bullet-hit after a "gunfight" with a terrorist gang at Sathuria village under Rajapur Police Station of Jhalakathi district.
