Cousin held in doctor killing case
Police yesterday arrested a college girl in connection with the murder of the acting resident medical officer (RMO) of Sirajganj General Hospital at a government dormitory near the district judge's court on Saturday.
The arrestee, Esha, is an HSC student of Ullahpara Hamida Pilot School and College. She is also a distant cousin of the deceased.
Esha came to the dormitory to see Dr Abdul Baqui Mirza Saturday morning. As she failed to contact Mirza over cellphone, she came to his room, opened the door and found the body lying there.
The two other women, who were detained on Saturday, were released yesterday afternoon, said Basudev Sinha, acting officer-in-charge (OC) of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station.
Meanwhile, doctors in Sirajganj yesterday brought out a procession in the town and submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner, giving a 48-hour ultimatum to arrest the killers.
Baqui Mirza was buried at his family graveyard at Ruppur village under Shahjadpur upazila of the district yesterday.
