Road accidents kill five
Five people were killed and 11 others injured in separate road accidents in Lalmonirhat, Jhenidah and Pabna yesterday.
Our correspondent from Lalmonirhat reports: Two persons were killed and four others injured in two separate accidents in the district yesterday.
The injured were identified as farmer Muzibor Rahman, 62, of Selim Nagor village of Sadar upazila and Akbor Ali, 28, son of late Abdur Rahman of Rudreshwar village of Kaliganj upazila. The injured were admitted to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex and Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital.
In another accident, Akbor Ali was killed and two other persons were injured as a goods-laden truck hit their motorcycle on Lalmonirhat-Burimari highway at Rudreshwar around 9:30am.
Akbor Ali was killed on the way to Rangpur Medical Ciollege Hospital, while two critically injured were admitted to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex.
Our correspondent from Jhenidah adds: Two including a child were killed and seven others injured in a separate road crashes in the district yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Pilton, 30, son of Kabil Mondol, of Mandia village of Harinakundo upazila and Rifat, 7, son of Rezaul Mondol, of Makimpur village of Sadar upazila. The injured were admitted to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital and local hospitals at Harinakundo.
Police said the first accident took place at Harinakundo upazila when a human hauler turned turtle on the road, leaving driver Pilton dead on the spot and injured six passengers.
The second one occurred at Amtala bazaar when a nasimon, locally made three-wheeler, turned turtle, leaving Rifat dead on the spot and his father injured.
Our correspondent from Pabna says: A young motorcyclist was killed while two other riders were injured as a Dhaka-bound speedy bus hit the motorcycle on Dhaka-Ishwardi in Dashuria Bazaar area of Ishwardi upazila yesterday.
The deceased Akib Hassan Antu, 13, a student of class seven of Dashuria MM High School of the upazila.
