Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) Central President Hasanul Haque Inu yesterday said trial of war criminals would be completed by this year.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a rally in the port city's Laldighi Maidan, organised by Chittagong city unit JSD.
JSD wants the return of the constitution of 1972, he said, adding that JSD would not compromise with any question on protecting democratic rights, national interest and implementation of the spirit of the War of Liberation.
He warned the prime minister about the indisciplined leaders of Awami League (AL) who are tarnishing the image of the grand alliance government.
He accused BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for supporting war criminals and fundamentalists, alleging that she “took Nizami on one shoulder and Amini on the other”.
Inu said he has stood by the people on any question of their rights and strongly pressed the government on this issue.
JSD lawmaker Mainuddin Khan Badal, JSD Central Secretary Sharif Nurul Ambia and central leaders Shirin Akhter, Syedul Alam and Nasirul Hoque also spoke.
Former mayor of Chittagong City Corporation and AL city unit President ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury attended the meeting, presided over by JSD Chittagong city unit president Hazi Abu Bakar Siddique.
