Involve all parties in amendments
Government must keep all parties involved with the process to amend country's constitution, otherwise the opposition would not accept it, said BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday.
“People of all strata of life should be consulted before bringing any change in the constitution instead of creating confusion,” he said addressing a discussion meeting at the Jatiya Press Club organised by Jatiyatabadi Sangskriti Foundation.
The BNP leader alleged that the ruling Awami League is making the caretaker government system disputed as they are conspiring to stay in power forever.
“Democracy started to flourish in the country through holding elections under the caretaker government and three successful elections were held under this system. But now Awami League is trying to make it controversial,” Fakhrul said.
Demanding midterm elections, he said the government has failed to run the country as it failed in all sectors.
