Amateur golf from today

The 26th Bangladesh Amateur Golf Champion-ship, organised by Bangla-desh Golf Federation and sponsored by Runner Group, begins at the Kurmitola Golf Club today.
Nearly 150 golfers from seven countries hosts Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Myanmar and Sri Lanka will take part in the tournament which started in 1982, said speakers at a press conference at the club premises yesterday.
The tournament will also have a separate 36-hole competition with 30 women.
Only half of the total 120 male participants will get a second round berth but the female golfers will complete the entire tourney that will start on Thursday.
Brigadier General Mirza Baker Sarwar Ahmed, secretary general of Bangladesh Golf Federation believes this tournament is a perfect stage for promising golfers from the participating countries to sharpen their skills.
