National badminton from Friday

Ruchi 31st National Badmin-ton Championship will get un-derway from Friday in Pabna with Tk4 lakh to be distributed among the winners.
Both men's and women's singles champions will be given Tk30,000 each followed by the runners-up who will get Tk 20,000 each while the quarterfinalists will be given Tk 5,000 each.
Acting general secretary of Bangladesh Badminton Federation, Jahidul Islam Kochi disclosed this at a press conference at National Sports Council auditorium yesterday.
He informed that Square Consumer Product would provide approximate Tk 14 lakh out of the estimated budget and that they preferred to hold the national meet in Pabna.
The six-day competition comprises five events men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles and mixed doubles.
Some 223 shuttlers 198 men and 25 women from 58 district sports associations, four divisions, two organisations and one university will take part in the competition. However, this time the number of shuttlers is less than the previous editions.
Sponsor maketing manager Obaidul Haq, BBF joint general secretary Syeda Morium Tareq and member Shamsul Arefin were among others present.
