Foreign liquor, gun seized: 6 arrested
Police seized 640 bottles of foreign liquor, 1600 cans of beer, a gun, live cartridges and a statue of Lord Buddha from a house at Mirzapur Road under Khulna Sadar Police Station at midnight on Sunday.
Raiding the house of 'drug peddlers' Shajahan Sheikh and his wife Farida Parvin Khan, police also recovered three national ID cards, some deeds of land and an amount of Tk 90,750 from there.
The law enforcers also arrested six people from the house. They are Farida, Shuvo, Mohua, Abul Kalam Azad, Reshma and Tinni. Shajahan and Farida fled the house, sensing the presence of the police team.
Led by KMP Commissioner Md Shafiqur Rahman, the operation was participated by Assistant Police Commissioner (City Special Branch) Abul Kalam Azad, Assistant Police Commissioner (South Zone) Md Alimuzzaman, Assistant Police Commissioner (DB) TM Mosharraf Hossain and OC of Khulna Sadar Police Station SM Kamruzzaman.
On March 12, police seized foreign and home made liquor from near Khanjahan Ali Bridge. Drug peddler' Shajahan brought those from Mongla, police said. A case was filed against him with Khulna Sadar Police Station the same day.
Shajahan is involved in smuggling and drug trafficking, the officer-in-charge of Khulna Sadar Police Station said.
