Ex-CUFL MD on 5-day remand
Former managing director of Chittagong Urea Fertiliser Limited (CUFL) Mohsin Uddin Talukder was placed on a five-day remand in the Chittagong arms haul case.
The court of Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubur Rahman passed the order following the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case prayed for a ten-day remand.
The IO and Senior ASP of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Md Muniruzzaman Chowdhury made the appeal on February 9.
Meanwhile, the same court rejected the bail petition of former Director of National Security Intelligence (NSI) Wing Commander (retd) Shahab Uddin who remained arrested in the same case. Shahab Uddin's lawyers moved the bail petition on ground of his illness.
The former CUFL MD Mohsin, who was arrested on March 12 in 2009, gave confessional statement under 164 on April 23 claiming that he informed about the offloading of arms to the then industry secretary Nurul Amin, who was staying at the CUFL rest house on that night the consignment reached and also informed the matter to the then BCIC chairman Maj General Imamuzzaman.
But he did not get any instruction from the two, Mohsin claimed in his confessional statement.
