Road crashes kill 6
Six people were killed and 20 others injured in road accidents in Gaibandha, Habiganj, and Rajshahi yesterday.
Our Gaibandha correspondent reports: Two people were killed and 18 others injured in two separate road accidents at Dhaperhat and Babur Dighi in the district yesterday.
The injured were taken to Palashbari health complex and Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
At Dhaperhat, driver of a truck named Rabiul Islam, 40, died on the spot as his vehicle collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound bus. Fifteen people were wounded in the collision.
A Rani Barman, 18, was killed on the spot and three others injured as their battery-run three-wheeler skidded into the roadside ditch at Babur Dighi.
Staff correspondent from Sylhet says: Two people were killed and two others injured after a bus hit a battery-run auto rickshaw (Tomtom) at Ratanpur of Madhabpur upazila in Habiganj district yesterday.
Roushan Ali, 80, of the village Chhatiain and Parul Miah, 30, of the village Piaim of the upazila were declared dead at the local upazila health complex. The injured two were admitted to the hospital.
Meanwhile, one Harilal Rabi Das, 28, was killed as a speedy motorbike ran him over at Shaistanagar area in Habiganj district town yesterday morning.
Our Benapole correspondent adds: A motorcyclist died on the spot after he lost control for foggy weather and plunged the vehicle into the roadside ditch at Dhannokhola village in Sharsha upazila of Jessore yesterday.
The deceased, Shahidul Islam, was the organising secretary of Sharsha upazila Krishak League and resident of Dhannokhola.
