Vandalism at fair venue protested
The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) yesterday strongly condemned the vandalism at Moni-Singh Mela (fair) at Durgapur in Netrokona and demanded punishment of the attackers.
In a statement, they alleged a group led by former local MP Jalal Uddin Talukder suddenly attacked on the fair, fired several rounds of bullet, and assaulted police.
Later the common people resisted the attackers who left the fair premises in police escort, claimed the CPB leaders.
CPB President Manjurul Ahsan Khan and General Secretary Mujahidul Islam Selim demanded immediate arrest of the attackers.
The local people have been organising the Moni-Singh fair for about 10 years.
