Depositions recorded in Rangamati, Naogaon
Rangamati BDR special court yesterday recorded statements of 10 prosecution witnesses while Naogaon BDR court recorded depositions of 19 more witnesses the same day.
In Rangamati, 10 of the 20 witnesses in the case for mutiny at 18 Rifles Battalion gave their depositions before the special court-15. After recording the statements, the special court, set up at Rangamati sector headquarters, adjourned the proceedings until 9:00am today, reports our correspondent.
All the 23 accused were produced in the court headed by Chittagong Sector Commander Col Zahedur Rahman. Two other members of the court are Lt Col Md Abdun Nur and Maj Golam Mostafa-al-Mamun.
The accused claimed innocence and told the court that the witnesses gave false depositions against them.
Kazi Md Ijarul Haque Akand, a representative of the attorney general, and public prosecutors advocate Belayet Hossain and Aminur Rahman Khan were present in the court.
Our correspondent from Chapainawabganj reported that the special court-12 recorded statements of 19 more prosecution witnesses (PWs) in a mutiny case filed against 25 BDR men of 43 Rifles Battalion.
All the 25 accused were produced in the court headed by Rajshahi Sector Commander Col Yahiya Azam Khan. Two others members of the court are Lt Col khalid Hossain and Lt Commander (BN) Touhidul Islam.
After recording the statements of the PWS, the court adjourned trial proceedings until 10:00am today.
The same court on Monday framed charges against the 25 BDR men for their involvement in the mutiny at the battalion headquarters on February 26 last year. Six confessed to their involvement in the mutiny while the rest claimed innocence.
Earlier, two witnesses--DAD Abdul Latif and Major Aftab--gave their statements before the court.
