Let us make a change
The Supreme Court of India recently asked the sitting prime minister of India to explain or clarify the reason of delay in taking appropriate action against the telecom minister in view of alleged scandal relating to telecom. The Supreme Court did this job voluntarily, as appeared in the media, though the telecom minister resigned before the court action.
In this connection, it may be mentioned that our Supreme Court may also take similar action on many a grounds as often published in the media. We are champions of corruption for years at a stretch as per TIB reports, but no significant case be reported leading to punishment or so.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on LGRD ministry and other agencies do often refer to corruption of Dhaka WASA, while many a consumers are tired of WASA officials' extortions cum compulsory corruption relating to meter reading, bill making etc.
The caretaker govt. did a good and praiseworthy job in the gas sector as hundreds of persons declared voluntarily the money they earned through corrupt practices and they deposited this money to govt. fund.
It is time for the govt. to practise in the similar fashion. Let something happen in the name of good governance, accountability cum digital Bangladesh.
