Hashem Khan is one of the senior-most painters in Bangladesh. The artist is famed for his Liberation War-themed works and tranquil nature of Bengal. In his paintings, the artist uses contrasting blue, white, lush green, yellow and red to create the essence of nature in rural Bengal. Thick brush strokes, bold lines and appealing texture are key characteristics in Khan's paintings. His figures and colours are bold and dynamic. His canvases are vast and the use of space in his artworks is outstanding. In recent times, most of his paintings highlight rural panorama, rustic people and their way of life. Khan makes a great attempt to connect the present themes with the Liberation War.
