Photo exhibition on ‘71 war
A three- day photography exhibition with 100 rare images of the Liberation War of 1971 concluded on December 16. Patuakhali Shaheed Smritee Pathagar organised the programme at its office in Patuakhali town.
While 1,000 people from different strata of society visited the exhibition, most of them were school or college students.
Mukta, a student of Class Six who came to the exhibition, said, “'The Liberation War was before our time, but through these photographs we get a sense of this important landmark in our history and the atrocities committed by the Pakistani army.”
Sumona, a student of Class Eight, asserted, “I am proud of what was achieved through the greatest sacrifice of the freedom fighters.”
“This exhibition teaches us to respect our liberation movement and the freedom fighters, “ said Kamal Hossain, a student of Class Nine.
Mostafizur Rahman Milon, secretary of the organisation, said that the raison d'etre of the programme is to introduce the new generation to our Liberation War.
“We collected the rare pictures from Muktijuddho Jadughor ( Museum of Liberation ) in Dhaka and displayed them at the exhibition,” pointed out Farhad Zaman Badal, a member of the organization.
