PM for proper hospital waste management
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday directed all concerned to take appropriate steps for proper management of hospital waste disposal to protect public health along with expansion of services.
The prime minister made the call while inaugurating the newly constructed 'Outdoor Complex' of Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka cantonment.
Appreciating the role of the members of army medical corps for providing medicare services to the rural people during their Winter Joint Exercises, she asked them to continue the programmes in future for providing treatment to the rural people.
“This type of services will help improve relations of the members of Bangladesh Armed Forces with the people of the country to a great extent,” she added.
She said her government would continue to extend its all out support for recruitment of necessary manpower, procurement of medical equipment and infrastructure development of CMH.
Sheikh Hasina lauded the initiative of connecting other CMHs with Dhaka CMH through video conferencing for exchanging treatment-related consultations saying it will help move one step forward for achieving the goal of building digital Bangladesh.
She advised the CHM authorities to take initiatives to provide modern medical services for the patients taking the advantage of information technology.
Sheikh Hasina mentioned that the Army Medical and Dental Corps and Armed Forces Nursing services have earned huge reputation by providing services at home and abroad.
Their efficiency in facing natural calamities, services to distressed humanity at home and works in UN peace missions have brought international reputation for the country, she added.
She said it has already taken steps to increase seats in all upazila and district hospitals along with setting up 18,000 community clinics across the country to reach medicare services to the doorsteps of people.
She said her government is working relentlessly to ensure five basic rights of people.
Chief of Army Staff General M Abdul Mubeen also addressed the function while Project Director Maj Gen AKM Jafarullah Siddique made a presentation on the project.
Health Minister Prof Dr AFM Ruhal Haque, Adviser to the Prime Minister Maj Gen (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral ZU Ahmed and Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal SM Ziaur Rehman, among others, were present on the occasion.
