The Uttara Bank 4th National Archery Championship was inaugurated yesterday at the Army Stadium in Banani with state minister for youth and sports Ahad Ali Sarker declaring the three-day meet open.
During the inauguration, the sports minister has promised to give the Bangladesh Archery Federation Tk 2 lakh.
Some 154 archers including 45 women from 53 teams are taking part in the events of recurve, compound and bamboo bow as the main battle for medals begin today.
Federation president Lt Gen Moinul Islam, general secretary Razib Uddin Ahmed Chapal, Uttara Bank managing director Shamsuddin Ahmed and trainer of International Archery Federation (IAF) Pascal Colmaire were also present.
