18 cases filed against 48 in last 16 months

As many as 18 cases were filed against 48 alleged collaborators of Pakistani occupation forces in five districts of Barisal division in the last 16 months.
Of the cases, nine were filed in Pirojpur, four in Jhalakathi, three in Patuakhali and one each was filed in Bhola and Borguna districts.
The complainants filed the cases with the courts concerned in their respective districts, accusing the 48 of killing 28 innocent people, raping women, looting houses and setting them afire during the Liberation War in 1971.
The courts accepted the cases and sent them to local police stations for submitting reports after investigation.
The accused in the cases are Jainal Abedin Matabbar of Bhola district, Brihaspati Boiragi, Harendranath Boiragi, Mohsin, Delwar Hossain Sayeedi, Momin Hawlader, Abdul Hakim, Sobhan Mia, Habibur Rahman Munshi, Mostafa Ahsan, Maolana Moslehuddin, Khalek Hawlader, Mosharraf Majhee, Samsul Haque Hawlader, Abdur Razzak Hawlader, Monoranjan Ghorami, Sukumar, Dinesh Chandra, Sirajul Haque Mollah, Oliul Islam, Kazi Mozammel Haque, Nurul Amin Maulovi and late Moslem Ali of Pirojpur district; Sekander Mollik, Mojahar Mollik, Rob khan, Hossain Matabbar and Hemayet Hossain Noor of Jhalakathi district; Abdul Gani Peada, Lalu peada, Abdur Jabbar Munshi, Forkan Mollik, Abdul Motaleb Mridha, Jalal Mridha, Abdul Haque Hawlader, Jainal, Habibur Rahman, Faizul Islam, Amir Hossen, Kanchan Ali, Motaleb Ali, Malek Mia, Rustam Sing and Abdur Sattar of Patuakhali district; Shahjahan Mia, Khalilur Rahman, Moulvi Ataher and Ranga Wahed of Borguna district.
Binoy Krisna Bala, DIG (police) of Barisal range, said they have sent all the documents of the cases to War Crimes Tribunal and are waiting for further instructions from the authorities concerned.
