An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale shook Russia's Kamtchatka peninsula on the Pacific coast overnight Monday without causing casualties or damage, a news agency reported.
The quake's epicentre was 205 kilometres (123 miles) northeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamtchatski and about 35 kilometres under the ocean floor, a seismology official was quoted as saying by the Ria-Novosti agency.
