Six stalkers land in jail, 2 sued at different places
'I love you' was the remark he made at a girl and it landed the teenage boy in Chowgacha police custody in Jessore.
It happened on Tuesday noon when the girl classmate of Ariful Hasan,18, lodged a complaint with the principal of Chowgacha Degree College accusing him of teasing her, reports our Staff Correspondent in Khulna.
The principal handed Ariful Hasan over to police at 4:30 pm on the same day as he could not give a satisfactory reply in defence of his remark.
Both Ariful Hasan and the girl are students of first year class in Humanities group of Chowgacha Degree College.
It is a kind of teasing as it is discourteous for a girl. Our society does not permit such open remark, the principal said requesting not to disclose the name of the girl.
Ariful Hasan was sent to court at noon yesterday.
In Gazipur, a mobile court sentenced a stalker to 6 months imprisonment for harassing a housewife in Sadar upazila on Tuesday night, reports a correspondent.
Officer-in-charge Abdur Rashid of Joydebpur police station said, Monir Hossain, 27, son of Abdur Razzak of Mariali area of the city used to tease a college girl of local Kazi Azim Uddin College on her way to college in 2006.
At this, the parents of the girl stopped her education and solemnized her marriage with a doctor.
But the stalker, Monir kept on harassing her, he said.
On December 7, Monir harassed the girl, but this time her husband noticed it and informed the police.
On Tuesday night Judge Tanjina Sarwar sentenced Monir to six months imprisonment after hearing both the sides.
In Benapole, Jessore, a youth was sentenced to two months imprisonment by a mobile court yesterday for helping a stalker.
The youth was identified as Ohiar, son of Abdul Aziz of Birampur village, reports a correspondent.
Office-in-charge Moazzem Hossain of Sadar police station said, Ranjit, son of Niranjan Adhikari used to stalk a college girl on her way to college for long.
A week ago, her parents sent her to her grandfather's house in Upashahar area. But Ranjit and his aide Ohiar went to the area to harass the girl there.
The girl's family members informed it to police. Police arrested the youth but Ranjit fled the scene.
In Magura, a stalker was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment by a mobile court for harassing a schoolgirl during a function at Nomani ground in the district town on Tuesday, reports UNB.
Police said, Shadhin Ali, 20, son of Shaheb Ali of Nijnanduali village in Sadar upazila used to tease Protima Rani, 13, class six student of Dodhmallika Girls' School since long.
Sadhin Ali, at one stage, forcefully embraced Protima in public during the programme organised on the occasion of Magura Liberation Day and also beat her as she tried to resist him.
Police arrested Sadhin from the spot and produced him before the mobile court led by Magistrate Mokhlesur Rahman.
After examining the witnesses the court handed down the punishment.
In Gaibandha, two stalkers were sued for attempting to kidnap a schoolgirl yesterday at village Kazla under Gobindagnaj upazila, reports our correspondent.
Police said two local youths -- Azibur Rahman, son of Ehsen Ali Shiekh of Kazla village and Hossain Ali alias Sahadat, son of Abdul Majid of village Sohagi used to tease Sumaiya Alkter, a student of class nine at Uttar Dharmapur Girls' High School in Gobindagnaj upazila on way to and from school.
Father of the girl Atowar Rahman raised the allegation before the guardians of stalkers, but to no affect.
At this, the accused turned desperate. On Monday, both the stalkers, riding a motorcycle, reached the victim's home and kidnapped the girl at arms point and took her on their motorbike.
Hearing the hue and cry, locals came to their help and chased the stalkers. Finding no other alternative the stalkers fled away leaving the motorbike and the girl behind.
A case was filed accusing Azibur Rahman and Hossain Ali but none was arrested till filing of this report yesterday afternoon.
