Jamaat leader, 17 others sued
Eighteen people, including central Jamaat-e-Islami leader Advocate Moshiul Alam, were sued here yesterday on charge of committing crimes against humanity during War of Liberation in 1971.
Freedom fighter Abdul Khan filed the case with Senior Judicial Magistrate Court against 18 persons in which, he said, the accused persons had brutally killed his paternal uncle Qader Khan on October 29, 1971.
The accused are Gopalgram Upazila Parishad Chairman Afzal Hossain alias Banshi Mia, Moulavi Mahbubur Rahman of Tanti Para, Kabir Hossain of Islampur Para, Akhter Mia of Keshab Moor, Abu Fathey of Mirzapur, Khaledur Rahman of Kalupara, Mohan Mollah of Bhaina, Khan Hafizur Rahman and his brother Faruk Khan of Doar Par, Fhakrul Islam and Bhiku Biswas of Shatrujitpur, Kabiar Hossain of Bakharabad, Khokan of College Para, Abdus Samad of Sajiara, Moshiur Rahman of Sonatundi and Abdur Rashid of Satnaphuria.
Magistrate Quamrunnahar Begum asked the officer-in-charge of Sadar thana to take necessary legal steps in this regard.
The plaintiff of the case said the accused stormed into their house on October 29, 1971 and looted valuables. They took away the plaintiff and his uncle.
Later, the accused killed Qader Khan but the plaintiff survived by taking shelter in a bush though he sustained bullet injuries in the same fire, he said.
