Hearing on charge framing against 23 on December 20
The Special Court-13 yesterday fixed December 20 for hearing on charge framing against 23 mutineers of 40 Rifles Battalion in Phulbari court sources said.
Court chief Col Saleh Ahmad, Dinajpur sector commander, fixed the date and adjourned the trial proceedings until December 20. Other members of the court are Lt Col Mahaful Alam and Major Didar Al Latif. All the 23 accused were produced in the court.
On Tuesday, 10 BDR men of the battalion were arrested after the court issued an arrest warrant against them for their involvement in the mutiny. They were later handed over to the police who sent them to Dinajpur jail.
Assistant Nayek Subedar Md Asaduzzaman of the battalion read out allegations against the accused on Tuesday.
The complainant alleged that the BDR personnel looted arms from armoury and revolted against their officers on February 25 and 26 last year, expressing solidarity with the mutineers of Pilkhana BDR headquarters in the capital.
