BD in Group A qualifiers
Bangladesh have been drawn in Group A in the 2011 AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers along with Myanmar, Palestine and the winners of play-off between Philippines and Mongolia.
The eight lowest-ranked teams out of 20, who entered the fray, will play on a home-and-away basis and the winners will qualify for the 16-team four-group phase meet as the draw of the participating teams was held in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.
Bangladesh, who qualified for the finals under the supervision of Brazilian coach Edson Silva Dido in the last edition, will begin their campaign against Palestine on March 21, and then play against Myanmar on March 23 and the winners of play-off on March 25.
The hosts will be announ-ced later, according to the AFC website.
However, the website did not disclose how many teams will progress to the next round as well as the names of the hosts.
In another move, Bangla-desh have to face Kuwait in the pre-qualifying round of the 2012 Olympic Games. Bangladesh will face Kuwait on February 23 next year in the Gulf state while their home match is scheduled for March 9.
GROUP A: Myanmar, Palestine, Bangladesh and winners of play-off between Philippines and Mongolia
GROUP B: Turkmenistan, India, Pakistan and winners of play-off between Chinese Taipei and Laos
GROUP C: Tajikistan, Mal-dives, Kyrgyzstan and winners of play-off between Cambodia and Macau
GROUP D: DPR Korea, Nepal, Sri Lanka and winners of play-off between Bhutan and Afghanistan.
