4 more arrested
Four more people were arrested in connection with the October 11 attack on the intercity train Drutajan Express and setting it ablaze near a BNP rally in Sirajganj early yesterday.
The arrestees are local BNP leader Selim Reza, local Jubo Dal leader Faridul Islam and party activists Shahidul and Swapan.
Police picked them up conducting raids at different places in the district.
So far, 80 people have been arrested in eight cases filed in connection with Sirajganj violence.
Six people were killed on October 11 when the train ploughed through an opposition rally at Soidabad near Bangabandhu Multipurpose Bridge in Sirajganj.
More than a hundred passengers of the Drutajan Express were also injured when opposition supporters threw stones and vandalised the train before setting it on fire following the accident. The mob also beat up the driver of the train and a guard of the nearby rail crossing.
The cases were filed with Sirajganj Government Railway and Jamuna Bridge (West) Police Stations for setting fire to the train, attacking police and passengers and looting valuables.
