Hearing on charge framing against 25 on Dec 20

A special court, set up at 43 Rifles Battalion Headquarters in Naogaon, yesterday fixed December 20 for hearing on charge framing against 25 mutineers of the battalion.
The court headed by Rajshahi Sector Commander Col Ehia Azam Khan on Tuesday took the allegations against the BDR jawans into its cognisance.
Lt Col Fazlul Haque, commanding officer of 43 Rifles Battalion appeared as the prosecutor. He read out the allegations against the rebels.
He told the court that the accused had looted arms from the battalion armoury and fired blank shots on February 25 and 26 last year. After hearing, the court fixed the next date for hearing on charge framing against the mutineers and sent them to jail hajat.
The accused are subedar major Khalid Hossain, nayek Sheikh Farid, lance nayek Akram Hossain, sepoys Masum Billah, Motiar Rahman, Biplob Hossain, Rezaul Karim, Ariful Islam, Romiuzzaman, Nur Mohammad, Khondokar Mamun Hossain, Jamal Hossain, Shahinur Alam, Moshtak Ali, Kohinur Islam, Zabed Younus, Iqbal Hossain, Munisi Nazmul Haque, Mosiur Rahman, Mehdi Hasan, Alim Al Fuad, Fayez Ahmed, Shahidul Islam, Nayeb Subedar Sheikh Atiar Ali and Nayek Hedayed Ali.
Two other members of the special court-12 are Lt Col Khalid Hossain and Lt Col Touhidul islam.
Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Naogaon Sadar Model Police Station, filed a sedition case against 34 mutineers of 43 and 46 Rifles battalion on May 17, 2009 and Police arrested them on the day.
Earlier, the same court took allegations against 11 BDR jawans of 46 Rifles battalion.
Our staff correspondent from Sylhet reported that the chief of BDR Special Court-14 yesterday ordered supply of copies of charges to the accused while granting them 27 days to get prepared for reply.
The court then adjourned its proceedings until 8:30am of November 23.
Earlier, the prosecutor Lt Col Khairul Quadir, also the commanding officer of 21 Rifles Battalion read out the charges against the 44 accused. He narrated how they had revolted in Sylhet on February 26 in 2009, expressing solidarity with the Pilkhana mutineers.
Comilla Sector Commander Col SM Farhad is the chief of the special court while Lt Colonel Akhtaruzzaman and Major Md Masudul Haque are the members. Deputy Attorney general Farhad Ahmed and Special Public Prosecutors Gazi Zillur Rahman and Dewan Mohiuddin were present.
Earlier on the day, the same court started trial of 61 mutineers of Sylhet sector headquarters. Complainant Subedar Abdul Gani read out allegations against the accused.
Acting Commanding Officer of the Sylhet Sector Major AKM Aurangajeb was the Prosecutor and gave a description of the incident at his sector.
After hearing, the court asked the complainant to supply copies of the charges to the accused and asked him to produce them in the court today. The court then adjourned its proceedings until 8:30am.
Of the 61 accused, 33 mutineers in jail while rest 28 were arrested yesterday morning.
Our Dinajpur correspondent adds:: The trial of 20 BDR mutineers of Joypurhat-3 Battalion started yesterday morning.
The complainant DAD Major Suber Md Shafiqul Islam of Joypurhat-3 Battalion read out the allegations against the mutineers before the Special court-13.
He alleged that the accused looted firearms from the battalion armoury and fired blank shots on February 25 and 26, expressing solidarity with the mutineers of BDR headquarters at Pilkhana in the capital.
The court ordered the complainant to produce the accused in the special court today.
