Govt re-fixes timing for city schools
The government yesterday re-fixed the timing for all public, registered non-government and community primary schools in the capital from 7:30am to 2:15pm.
The new timing will be effective from Saturday, director general of the Directorate of Primary Education Shyamal Kanti Ghosh said.
Contacted, he said the government has taken this decision for the convenience of school-going children. He however could not explain the convenience.
All other primary schools across the country will continue to follow the present timing -- 9:30am to 4:15pm -- Shyamal said.
Asked whether kindergartens have to follow the new timing, he said it will be applicable to schools which are run by the government.
Earlier this year, the government had fixed the timing of all public, registered non-government and community primary schools across the country from 9:30am to 4:15pm.
