Upazilla Chairman Murder in Natore
PM vows to punish killers (October 10, 2010)
The BNP did the same when they were in power. No matter who comes to power this cycle of violence continues, because the politicians of Bangladesh still live in their Sonar Bangla where people come out with sticks and machetes whenever there is a quarrel. It's time for change; we need modern leaders who genuinely believe in fairness, development and compromise.

Conventional application of law is useless in a situation like this. It is due to the failure of the government that we are in a mess like this today.
Sheikh Monirul Islam
The situation is extremely volatile at the moment, I agree that this kind of order is necessary but only if it is actually meant by the Prime Minister. Please, for the sake of the country set an example so that similar incidents can be avoided in future. The people behind the killings have to be punished and the ones responsible for inciting these acts must also be held accountable.
Nawaz
What is the PM talking about? Has not this been said by her many times before in the last two years?

This brutal event reflects the state of law and order in the country. What an enormous sense of insecurity among the common people! It seems the country is under the control of criminals and killers. None in the world can compensate his young child and wife for the loss.
Dr Islam
Honourable PM, please do something so that we would not hear this kind of news any more.
Hasan
I expect that the law enforcers will implement the assertion of PM. The comment of SP Natore is entirely unacceptable.
Md. Atiqur Rahman
It is time Sheikh Hasina made good on her promises to restore credibility in her government by bringing the putative AL party activists, allegedly involved in the gruesome killing of this elected local government official, to justice. I am sure, given the history of her own family, she understands more than anybody else in the country, that the stakes are extremely high with these saboteurs, who are merely interested in destabilising democracy in Bangladesh at best.
Faridul Alam
If crimes happen in front of the police, nothing can be done until unless the victim's family files a case? Is this a joke?
Sawgat Chowdhury
Death and politics have a close relationship; we can say they are bosom friends in the Third World countries.
Enamul Haque
Action should be taken immediately.
Kazi Salim
PM's promise is nothing new or extraordinary.
Concerned Citizen
Please keep us informed as to what action you are taking to punish the killers.

We are shocked and speechless seeing man's inhumanity to man. The incident is downright barbaric and calls for draconian law to deal with extraordinary situations in extraordinary times, all because of the ruling party cadres who now wield a monopoly in public affairs. Order must be restored, and the protective shield of the state extended to all its citizens without discrimination.
Madam PM, your own house is on fire. There is no time to look at the backyard but to douse it or be burnt. A stitch in time saves nine, so wise men say.
Reaz Hassan
The vow needs to be materialised at once by the authorities concerned.
S.R. Bhuiyan
How brutally the AL activists killed an innocent man!
M.A. Taher
Why do the police need to wait for the instruction from the PM? If the police and the administration had freedom, they could take action immediately. Honourable PM, please take action to give freedom to the law enforcement agencies and the administration.
Rahed
We would like to believe what the PM says, that action will be taken immediately. Otherwise, time itself will take its own course of action!
Rifat
Ruling party should protect all party men.
Engr Ashutosh
Punish all culprits as early as possible. It should happen in daylight, there should be 100% justice. There is no time to talk about old events. Please do something for the nation.
