Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation (BGTF) has taken an initiative to stage plays on a regular basis at the Zahir Raihan Cultural Centre in Old Dhaka. Initially, three plays will be staged every week -- from Thursday to Saturday. As part of the initiative, noted troupes will stage their popular plays at the venue.
The programme kicked off on October 7 through Pranganey Mor's “Shyama Prem”. Liaquat Ali Lucky, chairman of BGTF, formally launched the event. Loko Natyadal (Siddheswari) also staged its production “Kanjush”. Throughout October, eight more plays will be staged at the venue.
The plays are --“Bhoddornok” (Natyachakra), “Court Martial” (Theatre Art Unit), “Cleopatra” (Nandanik), “Ghar Jamai” (Dhaka Theatre), “Circus Circus” (Prachyanat), “Ebong Bidyasagar” (Aranyak), “Gulliver-er Sofor” (Ongikar), and “Thakur Ghorey Ke Re” (Shobdo Natyacharcha and Natukey).
Everyday, show will begin at 7:15 pm. Tickets will be available at the hall counter before shows. Students will get special discount.
Zahir Raihan Cultural Centre was founded in 2008, with an aim to provide a boost to the cultural activities in Old Dhaka. BGTF hopes that the initiative will encourage a cultural atmosphere in the area.
