A court here on Sunday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping a woman in 2006. The court fined the convict, Amzad Hossain, Tk 10,000, in default, he to suffer another six months in jail. According to prosecution, Amzad took the victim, also wife of his nephew, to Pronnathpur village in Pirganj upazila where he raped her on August 28, 2006. Victim's brother Abdul Hakim filed a case with Pirganj police station. The Woman and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal special judge Mahamudul Kabir pronounced the verdict after examining the records and witnesses.
