India to provide scholarship to freedom fighters' descendants
The Indian government will provide scholarships to descendants of freedom fighters of studying in higher secondary and undergraduate levels.
The High Commission of India in Dhaka has invited applications from direct descendants of Muktijoddhas, in higher secondary level and pursuing undergraduate courses in Bangladesh. They will be awarded annual scholarships by the Indian government for the academic year 2010-2011.
Amount of scholarship is Tk 2,000 per month for four years for undergraduate students and Tk 500 per month for two years for students studying at higher secondary level, says a press release.
Male students securing GPA 3 and above and female students securing GPA 2.5 and above and obtained admission in a recognised institute are eligible for the scholarship.
Those who already received the scholarship in the previous year need to re-apply along with proof of having passed the previous academic year with acceptable GPA.
