2 killed in road crash, villagers burn bus
At least two motorcyclists were killed and another was injured in a road accident on Dinajpur-Bochganj road at Dhukurjhari bazaar of Biral upazila in Dinajpur yesterday.
Road communication between Dinajpur and Bochaganj remained suspended after the accident.
The deceased were identified as Md Tozammel Haque Tazu, 30, son of Tamiz Uddin and Abu Sufiyan, 34, son of Md Abul Hossain village Shahapara under the same upazila.
Police and locals said the accident occurred when a Dinajpur-bound passenger bus collided head-on with the motorcycle after passing a bridge at Dhukurjhari bazaar around 4.30pm and tried to flee away, killing the two persons on the spot.
The injured is identified as Muhammad Rubel, 26, son of Nanu Muhammad at the same village. He was admitted to Biral upazila Health Complex later shifted to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital. Doctors said his condition is still critical.
After the accident, the villagers caught the bus after chasing about half a kilometre away of the spot and they set fire to the bus.
Later police went to the spot to control the situation. Fire service vehicles were called to douse the fire but the villagers sent the vehicles back.
