Rejoinder and our reply
In a rejoinder to a Daily Star report 'Kuet students go berserk demanding exam shifting' published on September 19, the university authorities contradicted a paragraph of the report regarding students' demanding removal of the vice chancellor.
The rejoinder, signed by the Kuet public relations officer, said the students did never demand the VC's removal, they only staged demonstration for shifting their term final exam. It also pointed out that the name of the VC was printed as Prof Dr Mohammad Alamgir Hossain instead of Prof Dr Muhammed Alamgir.
Our Reply
The Daily Star correspondent in Khulna was present on the campus on September 17 night when a section of Kuet students were staging demonstration, vandalising several dormitories demanding shifting of their exam schedules. At one stage they also kept the VC confined for sometime and asked for his removal unless the exam dates are deferred.
Regarding misspelling of VC's name, The Daily Star expresses sincere regret and it was unintended.
