Implementation of DAP a must to end gridlock
The detailed area plan (DAP) of Dhaka city could not be implemented compromising with one or two miscreants who are opposing the plan, said Abdul Mannan Khan, state minister for housing and public works.
"Implementation of detailed area plan is a must to remove traffic jam from the city and make it a modern one. Views could be exchanged with all quarters of people to implement the DAP.
"But it could not be implemented by compromising with one or two miscreants who are opposing the plan," the minister said.
He was speaking at a parliamentary debate competition organised by private television channel ATN Bangla at Bashundhara City shopping complex in the capital yesterday.
The theme of the debate competition was "Bold decision of the government can make future Dhaka livable".
Speaker Abdul Hamid, as the chief guest on the occasion, handed over prizes among the winners of the competition.
More than two hundred debaters from 32 educational institutions participated in the competition moderated by Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiron, chairman of Debate for Democracy.
Shaheed Bir Uttam Lt Anwar Girls' College became champion beating SOS Hermann Gmeiner College in the final round. `
