Indo-Bangla army team reaches mountain peak
A joint Bangladesh-India Army mountaineering expedition team on Saturday, the Eid day, has scaled Mount JOGIN-III peak in the Garhwal Himalaya ranges in India.
The height of the peak is 20,353 feet (6106 meters), said a press release yesterday.
An eight-member mountaineering team led by Major Shariful Islam Jomadder of Bangladesh Army was flagged off from New Delhi on 10 August.
Prior to the expedition, Bangladesh team underwent an extensive orientation-training course at National Institute of Mountaineering at Uttarkashi in India.
The expedition team is currently on its way back to Delhi and will hold a function on September 23.
This is the first Bangladesh-India mountaineering expedition organised jointly.
