Former husband charge-sheeted

The investigation officer on Tuesday submitted a charge sheet to Women and Children Repression Preventive Court in Satkhira in the case for 'compelling' college girl Shilpi to commit suicide.
In the charge sheet, Sub-inspector (SI) Mezbah Uddin of Kalaroa Police Station held Shilpi's ex-husband Zahidur Rahman responsible for her death. Zahidur hails from Kaparpara village in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia district.
Shilpi, 20, daughter of Shahidul Islam of Gochhmara village under Kalaroa upazila, was an honours student of Eden College in Dhaka. She fell in love with Zahidur Rahman who married her on December 12, 2009.
When Shilpi came to know that Zahidur is married and has two sons, she divorced him on January 25.
On February 27, Zahidur abducted Shipli, took her to Kushtia and also took snaps of her in an indecent way. With the help of Zahidur's first wife, Shilpi later came to their house at Kalaroa.
Thereafter, Zahidur repeatedly requested Shilpi to marry him, but she refused.
As Zahidur warned Shilpi of dire consequences over cellphone for not complying with his proposal, She committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of their house on April 24.
Her father Shahidul Islam filed a case with Kalaroa Police Station against Zahidur the following day.
