Bangladesh yet to decide on relations with Israel: FM
Foreign Minister Dipu Moni yesterday said Dhaka was yet to take any decision on establishing relations with Israel despite Bangladesh's policy of peace and friendship with all.
"(Anyway) Bangladesh has all out support for the peace loving Palestinians and this support will continue," a foreign ministry statement quoted her as saying at a discussion on London organized by the high-profile British think tank Policy Exchange.
Moni also said that Bangladesh would continue to play its expected role for establishing peace in the Middle East.
Replying to a question on stranded Pakistanis, the foreign minister said, only those who did not want Bangladesh's citizenship, were staying in Bangladesh with their "stranded Pakistani or Bihari identities."
"Many of the post 1971 generation stranded Pakistanis took Bangladeshi nationality and the door of Bangladesh in offering them the nationality is open," she said.
Policy Exchange's director on foreign affairs Dean Godson moderated the discussion, joined by representatives of different international rights watchdogs including Amnesty International, academic institutions and commerce bodies.
