Two girls, teenage boy drown

Two girls drowned in ditch and pond in Thakurgaon yesterday while a madrasa boy drowned in a river in Nilphamari the day before.
An eight-year-old girl drowned in a ditch at Gadura village under Haripur upazila in Thakurgaon yesterday morning.
Victim Aduri was a student of class II at Gadura Kismat Government Primary School and daughter of Abul Kashem of the same village.
Police and locals said the girl went to a crop field near her house to bring grass for their cattle at about 8.00pm.
There she fell in the ditch and drowned as she didn't know how to swim.
Seeing her long absence, the family member started to look for her and at one stage found the body floating on the water body.
Another girl met her tragic end in a pond at Gowalpara village under Sadar upazila yesterday.
Victim Rinki, 10, was daughter of Reazul Islam of the same village.
Police and local sources said that the girl went to a nearby pond to take a bath at about 11.00am.
She drowned in the pond as she also didn't know how to swim.
In Nilphamari, a madrasa student was drowned in the Buri Teesta river at about 2pm on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Omar Farook, 19, son of Akkas Ali of Uttar Sonakhuli village of Dimla upazila.
Locals said that the young man went to collect water from Muna Kasa point of the river.
He was asked by a quack to procure the water coming from northern direction of the river for treatment of his prolonged disease.
As he got gown in the river to collect water in a bottle, he was swept away by the strong current of the river.
