BAU golden jubilee today
Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) will be celebrated today with due festivity.
Marking the occasion, BAU authorities have chalked out a day-long programmes including hoisting of national and university flags, rally, tree plantation, seminar, farmers' gathering and inauguration of fish museum at BAU.
Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury will be the chief guest at the inaugural session while Fisheries and Livestock Minister Abdul Latif Biswas, MP, State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Captain (Retd) Mujibur Rahman Fakir, MP and State Minister for Cultural Affairs Promod Mankin, MP will be the special guests.
BAU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. M A Sattar Mandal will chair the function.
Students Affairs Adviser and president of celebration committee Prof. Md. Mustafizur Rahman and BAU registrer Md. Nazibur Rahman will also address the inaugural session, among others.
BAU was established in 1961 on the bank of Old Brahmaputra river, some 4 km away from Mymensingh town with a view to rendering higher education and research in agriculture.
Now this university is one of the most renowned technical institutions in South East Asia which runs six faculties.
Dr. MA Osman Gani was the first Vice Chancellor (VC) of BAU.
