Niketon approach road
In a recent letter I had praised Gulshan Society for the order they had brought to traffic on Road No 2, Gulshan- 1 and Niketon approach road EVEN WHEN THE ROAD ITSELF WAS IN “TERRIBLE CONDITION”.
In early July, workers appeared, road building material was stock-piled on both sides of the road and even an Excavator made an appearance and tore up bits of the road before parking on the side for a few days. All the rubble was piled up on both sides of the road, consisting of huge boulders, bricks, masses of pebbles, sand etc etc. The narrow road has became even narrower, the paid volunteers have either disappeared or become sheepish when once they were quite strict in implementing the traffic rules, the one-way sign boards are gone, parking on the road is rife and things are back to 'normal'.
It is now quite a job getting in/out of Niketon as Road No 2 resembles a paddy field rather than a road. Rickshaws, cycles, motorcycle riders are being thrown on the boulders and suffering great injuries. There is no sign when the work will resume, if at all. More than a month has passed and all our hopes have been dashed to the ground. Why have we been forsaken? Can anyone in authority explain?
