Criminals stabbed an Islami Chhatra Shibir leader of Chittagong University on the campus on Friday night leaving him critically injured.
The victim was identified as Abdullah-al-Mamun, a fourth year student of philosophy department and also general secretary of Suhrawardy Hall Shibir unit.
Sources said a gang chopped Mamun indiscriminately at about 10pm in front of CUCSU Bhaban when he was walking alone in the area.
He was first admitted to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital and later shifted to a private clinic for fear of further attack.
Shibir leaders of the university blamed Chhatra League (BCL) activists for the attack.
