Rab recovers 13 firearms
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) recovered 13 firearms from five districts on Thursday and Friday.
Rab recovered five firearms and bullets from Chuadanga and Rajbari on Friday and Thursday night, reports our correspondent.
Rab also arrested an outlaw from Rajbari in this connection.
Acting on a tip-off that a group of criminals carrying firearms were hiding at Monhorpur in Jibonnagar upazila in Chuadanga, a Rab-6 team raided the area at about 9:30pm on Friday.
Sensing presence of Rab men, the gang fled the scene leaving their firearms at a place where from the elite force recovered 2 pistols, one shutter gun, one pipe gun and 4 bullets.
Another team from Rab-12, Kushtia raided the house of outlaw Sudhangshu at Piralipara village in Pangsha upazila in Rajbari district at about 10:30pm and arrested him.
Sudhangshu is a top cadre of Janajuddho faction of outlawed Purba Bangla Communist Party (PBCP-ML). He is also a close aide of Janajuddho regional leader Poritosh alias Poirat.
On his confessional statement, Rab recovered a shutter gun and one bullet from his house. Later they handed the outlaw to Pangsha police in Rajbari.
In Cox's Bazar, the elite force recovered 4 firearms and arrested two criminals in separate drives on Friday, reports UNB.
Captain Tamzid Abdur Rahman, Senior Assistant Director of Rab-7 said, acting on secret information, they conducted a drive in Baniarchhara Forest Station area of Chakoria upazila and recovered three pipe guns and one LG gun.
None was arrested in this connection as the criminals managed to flee the scene sensing presence of the Rab team.
On the same day, Rab arrested M Rubel, 26, and M Gias Uddin, 30, while they were vandalising the house of Enamul Huq after beating him and his family members mercilessly at Chiringa Stationpara in the same upazila.
Another report from Bogra adds: A team of Rab-12 led by Major M Mostafa Asad Iqbal on secret information recovered one pipe gun and two bullets kept in a plastic bag at Durgahata Bazar in Gabtoli upazila at 1:30pm on Friday.
Later the seized firearm and bullets were handed over to Gabtoli police station.
In Pabna, Rab men in a drive recovered three firearms and six bullets from Rajapur early Thursday, reports our correspondent.
Acting on secret information that a gang was preparing to commit a crime, a Rab-5 team of Joypurhat district cordoned off the local cotton mill area at night.
Sensing the presence of Rab, the criminals fled the scene leaving their arms there.
Later, the Rab members recovered one foreign made revolver, two shutter guns and six bullets from the spot.
