Hearing on charge framing deferred till August 16
A Dhaka court yesterday deferred the hearing on ''charge framing'' against Rid Pharmaceuticals' managing director and four officials till August 16 in connection with a case filed for manufacturing toxic paracetamol syrup.
Judge Mohammad Abdul Majid of the Drug Court passed the order following a time petition submitted by lawyers for Rid Pharma Managing Director Mizanur Rahman and his wife Sheuly Rahman, also a director of the company.
The other accused are Abdul Gani, another director, and Mahbubul Islam and Enamul Haque, two pharmacists of the company.
Mizanur and his wife were present in the court during the hearing. They were earlier released from prison on bail by different courts on different dates.
Gani, Mahbubul and Enamul went into hiding immediately after the case was filed on August 11 last year.
The five officials were charged with producing adulterated paracetamol syrup that caused death to 28 children across the country from June to August last year.
