13 more Jamaat, Shibir men remanded in Chittagong
Thirteen more Jammat-Shibir-men, arrested on charge of vandalism in the city's Halishahar area on July 04, were placed on remand yesterday.
With this, a total of 140 Jamaat-Shibir-men have been remanded in two cases filed with Double-mooring and Halishahar police stations.
The arrestees were produced yesterday before the court of Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Fazlul Bari.
The court placed 11 accused including the Jamaat-e-Islami Chittagong north former ameer and Chittagong city unit Shura Member Mafizur Rahman on one-day remand each and the rest two on a two-day remand each.
Earlier Double-mooring police station Sub Inspector (SI) Kazi Rakib Uddin and Halishahar police station SI SM Didarul Islam in separate prayers sought remand for five days and seven days respectively.
Jammat-Shibir men in a sudden attack vandalised over 100 vehicles and a number of shops at Halishahar area on July 04.
Police arrested 10 of the 11 Jamaat-Shibir-men, including Mafizur Rahman while holding a secret meeting at a restaurant in Khulshi area on Tuesday. The rest were held from different parts of the city.
