Bangladesh participating in Indonesian workshop on TV documentary production

A month-long international training workshop on 'TV Documentary Programme Production' began on July 6 at the Multi Media Training Center (MMTC) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
The theme of this year's training is “poverty alleviation through local economic development,” which highlights Indonesia's success in developing local economy through community development, according to a press release from the Indonesian Embassy in Dhaka.
This theme is one of the Millennium Development Goals set for 2015. The training aims to contribute to the enhancement of cooperation among developing countries, widely known as the South-South Cooperation.
The training would not only provide technical know-how in the field of TV documentary programme production, but also strengthen Indonesia's relationship and cooperation with participating countries.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia is organising the workshop in cooperation with Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. Some fourteen participants from eight developing countries -- Bangladesh, Lao PDR, Maldives, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Timor Leste and Vietnam, as well as two participants from Indonesia are taking part in the training, which will continue till August 3.
The participants will be able to learn about Indonesia's policy in poverty alleviation through this training, as they will also make a documentary on the Jambidan, Kasongan and Kebon Agung villages in Bantul region.
These villages are among Indo-nesia's success stories in synergising the economic policies and programmes among the government, private sector and local community in alleviating poverty.
The three villages have been regarded successful in empowering the natural and human resources in the region, creating job opportunities, as well as generating higher incomes and improving the living standards.
During the training, the participants will produce documentaries focusing on economic development in these villages. The films are expected to be aired by television stations in the participating countries. Through the films, the participating countries will gain a better understanding of Indonesia's efforts in poverty alleviation.
The training programme was inaugurated by Andri Hadi, Director General of Information and Public Diplomacy of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indonesia.
