Bus strike called off
District Bus Owners' Association yesterday called off strike in six domestic routes.
District Commissioner Md Arif Ur Rahman said the strike was called off after a 'fruitful' meeting at his office between the feuding sides.
Earlier, bus movement in the district came to a halt in the morning due to wild cat strike by transport owners.
The District Bus Owners' Association enforced the strike in sixlocal routes to press home their demand for canceling the Dhamura-Shatla route in Uzirpur.
The Dhamura-Shatla bus service route was inaugurated in Uzirupr upazila on Monday.
Monirul Islam, lawmaker from Barisal-2, inaugurated the new bus service after Uzirpur Bus Owners' Association was formed.
The strike stopped services between Barisal city and Madaripur, Bhurghata, Paysarhat, Dhamura, Mirganj and Swarupkathi.
