PM unhappy over slow pace of work
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday expressed resentment over the slow pace in implementing government's different development projects.
At a regular cabinet meeting at the Bangladesh Secretariat with her in the chair, the premier also asked her cabinet colleagues to remain watchful and alert about the bureaucrats who show loyalty but do not work sincerely.
“The bureaucrats show loyalty but do not work sincerely. So you [ministers] will have to keep close eyes on them,” said Hasina adding that time is running fast and they have to implement the development projects as committed to the people.
“They [bureaucrats] say everything is going on fine. But, actually nothing has been implemented,” said the premier as quoted by a cabinet minister to The Daily Star.
Referring to the present status of Dhaka-Mymensingh four-lane road, she said due to bureaucratic tangle, nothing has been done for starting the works.
“This cannot continue,” she said as quoted by the minister.
The cabinet also approved the drafts of the Law and Order Disrupting Crime (Speedy Trial) (amendment) Act-2010 and National Tourism Policy 2010.
