Using cell phone
Late Dr. Mohammad Shahidullah was very correct in saying " Disease is contagious not health". The other day I went to a bank to collect money sent from abroad. There was a long queue at the counter. From a little distance, I could very well see the teller at the counter was talking on her cell phone. After she finished talking, she attended the next customer on line. After some time, she again got back to her cell phone and the process continued like this making the queue bigger and bigger.
My turn came, she cross checked the documents, being satisfied she proceeded to deliver me the money and right at that moment her cell phone rang and holding the money with one hand, she received the call with the other and began talking and this continued for a while. This was absolutely outrageous, but there is none to look into this menacing problem.
I am sure readers come across this situation almost every day. It can fairly be said that all scientific discoveries and innovations are western based which were gradually adopted by the whole world. Now the point is the proper use of these tools and instruments. While in Houston, Texas, I noticed people have to turn their cell phones into recording mode before entering their place of work. After office hours, they check the recording and call back at their desired numbers. At work if anybody is found talking on the cell phone excepting telephone operators, the CEO's etc, they shall be immediately sent home to speak on their cell phone to their heart's content.
In Bangladesh, cell phone has become an addiction. One will see people talking on the cell phone for hours together. I wonder how they do it, perhaps they have nothing else to do in this world. People talk on the cell phone while driving, riding and also while talking to others!! These are all bad manners.
