Sec 144 outside Dinajpur medical
The district administration yesterday morning imposed Section 144 outside Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital (DJMCH) as Chhatra League (BCL) and Chhatra Dal (JCD) of the district organised separate programmes at the same venue the same day.
Acting Deputy Commissioner of Dinajpur Md Shamsul Alam imposed the ban with effect from 10:00am yesterday to continue till 10:00pm today prohibiting any programme outside the DJMCH complex to avoid any untoward incident.
Md Hamidul Haque Khandaker Principal of Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital said the two student bodies have been blaming each other for their acts on the campus.
Sources said BCL and JCD of Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital unit locked in several clashes on the campus on Friday night to establish supremacy.
The activists of Chhatra League attacked their opponents leaving a student, identified as Jamilur Rahman Sumon, an intern doctor of DJMCH, injured.
Later, Md Kamrul Ahsan, Hostel Superintendent of the college along with police force rushed to the spot tackle the situation.
However, Razib Malaker, general secretary of Chhatra League of DJMCH denied any attack by his party men on the Chhatra Dal leaders.
