SA A wrap up Test series
Visiting South Africa A team wrapped up the two-match unofficial Test series 2-0 when they defeated the hosts by 185 runs in the second game that finished yesterday at BKSP. Chasing a mountainous victory target of 411 runs in their second innings, the hosts crumbled for 225 just after lunch on the fourth and final day.
Bangladesh A started the day on 125 for four after three quick wickets in the previous evening had pushed them to a corner. And the fourth day started as badly as the third day had finished when nightwatchman Mahbubul Alam for nought through a run-out in the second over. With half the batting gone, Faysal Hossain tried to resurrect the innings, but found little supports from others. Nazimuddin went for 19 and when Faysal became the seventh man to go for 43 with the total on 197, hopes of saving the match evaporated. The rest of the line-up folded quickly as they reached 225, handing the tourists another comprehensive victory. Left-arm spinner Paul Harris took three wickets while Elgar, Friend and Philander took two wickets each for South Africa A team.
The two teams will be joined by West Indies A in a triangular one-day tournament that starts on May 5 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
